Laboratory tests: mechanical tests and chemical analysis on materials and equipment

RINA laboratories to verify the technical characteristics, quality and safety of products

Safety is an essential aspect for the quality and sustainability of materials and equipment, as well as often being a regulatory requirement; therefore, it is necessary to carry out accurate and reliable laboratory tests.

RINA, with its two cutting-edge laboratories equipped with sophisticated equipment and highly qualified personnel, offers a wide range of services in this field. These services include technological tests on metallic and composite materials, as well as for tests of reaction and fire resistance.

RINA Testing Laboratory

Established in 1965 as the Fire Studies Laboratory, the RINA Testing Laboratory aimed to provide the Italian industry with a center to test the materials for the passive fire protection of ships according to national and international standards. Over time, it has expanded its expertise to passive fire safety in the civil and railway sectors and has become competent in the verification and testing of individual rescue and personal protection devices. Today, the RINA Testing Laboratory ranks among the world leaders for adopting finite element mathematical models to simulate the behavior of complex fire-resistant structures such as ceilings, doors, etc.

SSM Laboratory: Studio Sperimentale Metalsiderurgico SSM S.r.l.

The Studio Sperimentale Metalsiderurgico (SSM) is a laboratory dedicated to technological tests on metals and composite materials.  It is accredited by national and international certification bodies to conduct destructive and non-destructive tests as well as investigative techniques on materials. Active since 1978, it offers support to the mechanical, naval, petrochemical and energy sectors. Research and quality control are constantly evolving, supported by an efficient business management, experienced staff and cutting-edge equipment in line with testing standards.

Both laboratories are ACCREDIA accredited for the tests indicated in the "Laboratory test list".
