Why choose RINA?

RINA is a global company that leverages the expertise of our professionals to support companies in their growth. For over twenty years, we have operated as a Notified Body for the Machinery Directive and have become leaders in the certification sector, particularly in ISO services. We have developed the first certification scheme for Machinery Safety Management Systems, designed to prevent accidents associated with machinery use and protect people's health and safety.

Regulatory focus

The Machinery Safety Management System certification scheme was created based on the systemic approach of ISO (International Organization of Standardization) management system standards, with the aim of enhancing a set of best practices to minimize risks associated with the use of machinery.

Starting from European and national legislation on workplace safety, to the essential health and safety requirements applicable for the free circulation of "machinery" (understood as work equipment), the scheme also takes into account the relevant mandatory references applicable to machinery, as well as possible interpretative guides and opinions issued by competent authorities.

The standard also has a particular focus on the analysis of Organizational Behaviour Management, the discipline based on scientific laws explaining human behaviour that allows its prediction and control.

Frequently asked questions

- Types of machinery used;
- Methods of use;
- Risk processes;
- Potential severity.

Yes, the requirements of this new certification tool can be integrated with those of the most common management systems, such as workplace health and safety (ISO 45001), which are enriched with specific procedures aimed at machinery management.
