Quang Nam water & sanitation project

Project description

The project has been financed by the General Directorate for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which provided the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam with a soft loan to implement the Nui Than Water Drainage System and Sanitation Project in Quang Nam Province.  The main goal is to prevent flooding and ensure high water sanitation standards for the Nui Thanh community while promoting sustainable social and environmental conditions. This will support the anticipated economic, touristic, and social growth of Nui Thanh, ultimately benefiting the broader Quang Nam province.

In particular, the Nui Than Sanitation Project involves the design and construction of a stormwater network and a wastewater collection and treatment system for Nui Than Town. This project aims to replace the current practice of discharging wastewater directly into surrounding ponds from most institutions, schools, hospitals, and households, given that the lack of a wastewater system and poor stormwater drainage create very challenging conditions for environmental hygiene in the Nui Thanh urban area. 

RINA scope of supply

RINA has carried out the following tasks:

• feasibility study,
• conceptual design and tender documents of the wastewater treatment plant;
• environmental and social impact assessment;
• supervision.
