RINA ISO 50001 certification

The new EU Directive 2023/1791 on energy efficiency, which took effect in October 10, 2023, marks a significant step forward in the fight against climate change, with the aim of reducing energy consumption by 11.7% by 2030 compared to the projections of the EU 2020 reference scenario. This results in a maximum final energy consumption of 763 Mtoe and primary energy consumption of 992.5 Mtoe.

What are the changes and innovations to consider?

- The new Directive replaces the previous EU Directive 2012/27.
- All EU Countries must transpose the new Directive by October 11, 2025.
- Companies with an average annual energy consumption higher than 85 TJ over the previous three years, considering all energy vectors, will be required to implement an energy management system compliant with the EN ISO 50001 standard by October 11, 2027.
