The CSWIP 3.1 – Welding Inspector certification, recognized internationally, is among the most sought after in the Oil & Gas, Power Generation sectors and numerous other industrial contexts where welding quality is a critical requirement.

To obtain it, you must attend the approved and qualified course by TWI (The Welding Institute) and also pass the final exam, consisting of theoretical and practical tests.

Course content

The training path has a total duration of 5 days (4 days of training + 1 day of exam) and includes:

- Fundamentals of welding and introduction to the role of the inspector. 

- Regulations, standards, and technical documentation (WPS - Welding Procedure Specification, WPQ - Welding Procedure Qualification, certificates). 

- Visual inspection and non-destructive testing methods.

- Interpretation of technical drawings and welding symbols.

- Analysis of welded joints and major defects.  

- Practical exercises on samples with real defects.

- Exam simulations and preparation sessions.

At the end of the course, a final exam is divided into three tests: general theoretical test, documentary test, and practical inspection. To pass the exam, you must score at least 70% in each of the three tests.

- Understand the factors that influence the fusion welding quality of steels.

- Recognize the main welding processes and their impact on quality control.

- Interpret symbols and instructions on technical drawings to ensure compliance with specifications.

- Perform and document visual inspections on welded joints, macrographs, and mechanical tests.

- Identify any deviations from specifications and their impact on final quality.

Requirements

To enroll in the CSWIP 3.1 course, the following are required:

- Visual acuity and color sense certificate (issued by a doctor or optometrist).

- Documented experience: At least 3 years as a welding inspector or 5 years as a welding coordinator or 1 year as an instructor or workshop supervisor

- CV in English detailing welding experience

The certification

Upon passing the exam, the candidate receives the CSWIP Certificate of Proficiency – Welding Inspector 3.1, accompanied by a personal badge. The certification is valid for 5 years, renewable based on documentation.
